In a remarkable display of community commitment and youth empowerment, the Omene Nana Fun Club has officially adopted the best player of the Omene Buor Nana Inter-Primary School Super Cup Tournament, awarding him a full scholarship covering his education from primary school through to Senior High School (SHS). The initiative also included a GH¢1,000 cash prize, a football, and a trophy for the winning team, underscoring the club’s dedication to nurturing talent and promoting academic excellence.
The tournament featured spirited competition among Yonso Islamic, Yonso United, and Yonso M/A schools, providing a vibrant platform for young footballers to showcase their skills. The energy on the pitch was matched by the enthusiasm of the community, with parents, teachers, and local leaders attending to celebrate the event.

Speaking to the media, Douglas Boateng, President of Yonso, explained that the primary goal of the Fun Club is to support the youth in achieving their dreams, both in sports and academics. He encouraged parents to invest in their children, particularly those with exceptional football talent, noting that football today presents global opportunities. “Football is no longer just a game; it is a pathway to success,” he said, emphasizing the importance of guidance and parental support.

Baffour Oduro Boahen, Chief of Yonso, expressed his deep appreciation to Elder Emmanuel Osei Taiwan, popularly known as Omene Buor, for founding the tournament. He described the event as a critical platform for youth to develop their talents, build character, and gain valuable life skills. The Chief also encouraged the community to continue supporting initiatives that promote education alongside sports.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asante Mampong, Hon. Yakubu Issifu, who contributed two footballs to the club, pledged continued support for the initiative. He also reminded students of the importance of balancing sporting ambitions with academic pursuits, stressing that education remains a priority.

The scholarship awarded to the best player highlights the Omene Nana Fun Club’s commitment to holistic youth development. Beyond football, the club plans to organize quizzes, mentorship programs, and job creation initiatives to empower young people in the Mampong constituency.

The Omene Buor Nana Inter-Primary School Super Cup Tournament has been widely praised as a transformative platform, uniting the community, celebrating talent, and providing young people with tangible opportunities to excel both on the football field and in the classroom.
