Yonso Hosts Maiden Omene Bour Nana Inter Primary School Super Cup to Promote Youth Talent

Yonso recently came alive with excitement as it hosted the inaugural Omene Bour Nana Inter Primary School Super Cup, a tournament aimed at nurturing young football talent and fostering community engagement. The competition brought together three schools—Yonso Islamic Primary, Yonso United Primary, and Yonso M/A Primary—all eager to compete for top honors and prestigious prizes.
The tournament offers an enticing reward for the winning team, including a cash prize of GHS 1,000, a trophy, and an educational scholarship extending from primary school to Senior High School (SHS) for the Man of the Match, combining both sporting achievement and academic encouragement.

During the event, Baffour Oduro Boahen, Chief of Yonso, lauded the initiative and expressed gratitude to the founder, Elder Emmanuel Osei Tawia, popularly known as Omene Bour, for organizing the competition. He highlighted the importance of providing platforms for children to showcase their talents and urged parents to actively support and guide their children throughout the tournament.

Douglas Boateng, President of the Yonso Fun Club, emphasized that the tournament is part of the club’s broader objective to empower the youth and create opportunities for growth and development within the Mampong constituency. He noted that nurturing young talent through sports promotes discipline, teamwork, and community spirit among the youth.

The tournament also received backing from Hon. Yakubu Issifu, Municipal Chief Executive for Asante Mampong, who donated two footballs to support the participating teams. Speaking at the event, he encouraged pupils to take their studies seriously while pursuing sports, stressing that balancing academics and athletics is key to personal success.

The Omene Bour Nana Inter Primary School Super Cup has been widely welcomed by the Yonso community, which sees it as a positive initiative for youth engagement, talent development, and communal unity. Residents expressed optimism that the tournament will continue to grow, offering opportunities for many more young people to shine both on and off the pitch.

As the competition progresses, anticipation remains high for thrilling matches and the emergence of new football stars from the Yonso community.
