BRAC Ghana Expands Financial Inclusion with Launch of Bantama Service Point

BRAC Ghana Savings and Loans Ltd has officially launched its Bantama Service Point in the Ashanti Region, marking a significant step in its ongoing commitment to bringing inclusive financial services closer to Ghanaians, particularly those in underserved communities.

The Bantama branch becomes the fifth service point established by BRAC Ghana in the Ashanti Region, demonstrating the institution’s growing footprint and dedication to promoting financial empowerment across the country.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Kojo Baffoe Eghan, CEO of BRAC Ghana Savings and Loans Ltd – Bantama Service Point, emphasized the company’s mission to complement existing financial institutions by offering easily accessible and innovative services. “Our goal is not just to provide financial products but to also build financial and digital literacy among the people, especially women in rural and peri-urban communities who often face barriers accessing formal banking services,” he stated.

Mr. Eghan noted that the institution is committed to empowering the economically active poor by providing them with tools to grow their small businesses, manage finances wisely, and build sustainable livelihoods. He added that BRAC’s approach is rooted in its global vision of enabling people to realize their potential and escape poverty sustainably.

BRAC Ghana Savings and Loans Ltd is part of the larger BRAC global network, which currently serves over 10 million clients across several countries. With the rollout of mobile banking services through the shortcode *275#, BRAC is making banking even more accessible, allowing customers to perform transactions from the comfort of their homes or businesses.

The launch ceremony was graced by the representative of the Bantema chief, Nana Owusu Appau III, the Bantema Gyasehene, who also serves as an Adviser to BRAC Ghana Savings and Loans Ltd. In his remarks, he lauded the initiative as timely and essential for community development. “This service point will undoubtedly boost local businesses. I encourage residents, especially traders and entrepreneurs, to take advantage of the loan facilities offered. However, I urge all customers to use the loans responsibly and for productive ventures to ensure timely repayment and sustainability of the service,” Nana Owusu Appau III advised.
