Traders Empowered to Promote Healthy, Safe Market Environment

The United Traders Forum (UTF), a traders group in Kumasi, recognizes the importance of a healthy environment, safety, and security in expanding their businesses.

Sponsored by Star Ghana Foundation, the UTF engaged professionals to equip traders with the necessary skills and knowledge to maintain a clean, healthy, safe, and secure environment in the Kumasi Central/Kejetia Markets.

On May 21, 2025, a one-day orientation was held in Kumasi to educate traders on hygiene, fire, and security consciousness.

Environmental health professional Cyril Awudzi from the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) emphasized that a clean environment promotes health and productivity, attracting more customers to patronize their businesses.

Chief Inspector Osei Tutu, Kejetia Markets Police station officer, advised traders to be vigilant, noting that most criminals operate under the guise of doing business with traders.

He stressed the importance of security awareness to outsmart criminals and advised traders, particularly women, to avoid public altercations that contravene public order.

UTF Chairman Elder Joseph Agyin and Secretary Appiah-Kubi Yeboah encouraged traders to take the education seriously, thanking their sponsors for financial support.

They also expressed their appreciation to environmental health professionals and security officers for the valuable education.
