Toase SHS Seeks Urgent Help to Rebuild Burnt Teachers’ Bungalows

Authorities at Toase Senior High School (TOSS) in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality are making a passionate appeal to the public, old students, and benevolent organizations to help the school rebuild four teachers’ bungalows that were destroyed by a fire four months ago.

The Headmaster, Mr. Joseph Britwum, says the incident has left a major gap in the school’s infrastructure, disrupting the accommodation arrangements for staff and creating significant challenges for academic supervision and general administration.

“The absence of accommodation for our teachers has become a serious burden. We have lost four critical staff bungalows, and it is affecting not only the welfare of our teachers but also the overall efficiency of the school,” Mr. Britwum lamented.

He explained that teachers now have to commute from far distances daily or depend on temporary arrangements, which puts strain on their productivity and availability, especially during emergencies or after-school programs.

The headmaster stressed that the situation requires immediate attention and called on all stakeholders — including the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, old students (Toase SHS Alumni), corporate institutions, traditional authorities, and the general public — to come to the school’s aid.

“We are appealing to everyone who has the means to support us with funds, materials, or expertise. Every little help will go a long way to restore decent accommodation for our dedicated staff,” he said.

According to school authorities, initial estimates suggest that millions of Ghana cedis will be needed to fully reconstruct the affected bungalows and furnish them for use.

Some old students who visited the school recently expressed disappointment over the slow pace of recovery and have pledged to mobilize resources among alumni groups both home and abroad.

“This school shaped many of us into who we are today. We cannot sit back and watch it suffer,” one old student remarked. “We are taking steps to organize fundraising efforts and reach out to fellow alumni for support.”

Local residents and leaders in the community have also been urged to show solidarity by contributing in any way they can — be it financially, through provision of building materials, or offering skilled labor.

Toase SHS has over the years produced notable personalities in education, business, and public service, and continues to contribute significantly to human resource development in the region. The school currently hosts more than 2,000 students and is known for its academic discipline and excellence.

School management says donation platforms will soon be announced to streamline contributions and ensure transparency in the rebuilding project.
