NDC Executives in Atwima Nwanbiagya South Reject Osei Wisdom Boama’s MCE Nomination, Demand New Candidate

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Atwima Nwanbiagya South Municipality is facing internal upheaval as party executives vehemently reject the nomination of former parliamentary candidate Osei Wisdom Boama for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE). The executives accuse Boama of contributing to the party’s electoral failure in the constituency and warn that his appointment could weaken party unity and grassroots support.

Addressing the media at a press conference, NDC Constituency Chairman Abu Saddick expressed strong opposition to Boama’s nomination, labeling him as unfit for the position. He stressed that the party executives would not accept his appointment, citing concerns about his leadership capabilities and commitment to the party’s progress.

“We, the executives, are completely against this nomination. The national leadership must respect our stance and select a different candidate who can unite the party and drive development in the municipality,” Abu Saddick declared.

The controversy surrounding the nomination has further escalated with allegations of corruption within the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP). Speaking at the same press conference, the Atwima Nwanbiagya South NDC Women’s Organizer, Hajia Fati Adams, raised concerns over reports that sections of the school feeding program had been illicitly sold to unidentified individuals, depriving public school children of the initiative’s benefits.

“We cannot sit and watch the school feeding program, which is meant to support underprivileged children, be mismanaged and sold off. The national executives must investigate this matter and take immediate action,” she urged.

The resistance from the party’s grassroots has sparked intense debate within the NDC, with members calling on national executives to address their grievances before making any final decision on the MCE appointment. Some political analysts believe the outcome of this internal dispute could have far-reaching consequences for the NDC’s strength in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality.

As tensions rise, all eyes are on the party’s national leadership to see whether they will heed the concerns of their local executives or push ahead with Boama’s nomination, a move that could lead to further discord within the party.
