The National President of the Alumni Association of Agogo Presbyterian College of Education, Dr. Veronica Adu Brobbey, has challenged young Ghanaian teachers to commit to lifelong learning and continuous professional development to effectively meet the demands of a rapidly evolving educational system.
Dr. Veronica Adu Brobbey made the call during the commissioning of a newly renovated and fully equipped library at the college, a landmark project spearheaded by the Alumni Association. She emphasized that completing teacher training is only the beginning of a teacher’s professional journey and stressed the importance of innovation, creativity, and adaptability in the teaching profession. “Education is a lifelong journey. Completing teacher training college is not the end of learning but rather the foundation. To transform lives and contribute to national development, our young teachers must embrace continuous training, innovation, and new teaching methods,” Dr. Adu Brobbey stated.

The upgraded library was dedicated to Ms. Vida Anno Kwakye, the seventh principal of the college, in recognition of her dedication and service to education. The renovation was a joint initiative of the 1975, 1985, 1995, and 2000 alumni year groups, who marked their Golden, Ruby, Pearl, and Silver anniversaries respectively by contributing funds and resources to modernize the facility.

The library project included improved infrastructure, new equipment, and upgraded learning materials to create a conducive environment for research and study. Alumni leaders described the initiative as a demonstration of loyalty, gratitude, and a vision to enhance teacher training in Ghana.

Dr. Adu Brobbey commended the alumni’s efforts and encouraged others to emulate their example. She also urged current students to remain dedicated to their studies and seize opportunities to build their academic and professional potential.

Vice Principal of the college, Mr. Richard Akwasi Frimpong, also praised the alumni, saying their support will leave a lasting legacy for the institution. “This library will transform the learning environment at Agogo Presbyterian College of Education. It is a legacy that will continue to inspire students and empower educators for generations to come,” Mr. Frimpong said.

The dedication ceremony was attended by alumni from various year groups, faculty members, students, and local dignitaries. The colorful event featured cultural performances and tributes to Ms. Vida Anno Kwakye for her leadership and influence on the institution’s growth.

The newly modernized library not only honors Ms. Kwakye’s service but also symbolizes the power of alumni collaboration in educational development. It is expected to play a key role in strengthening teacher training and academic excellence at Agogo Presbyterian College of Education.
