Eight (8) illegal chainsaw operators arrested@ Nkawie Police station for encroaching Tano offin Forest reserve

Nkawie District Forest Services Division in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality of the Ashanti region led by Mr Chrisantus Nifasoyir and his agile team made up of Rapid Response Team and Forest Guards have arrested eight (8) illegal chainsaw operators who besieged Tano Offin Forest reserve for illegally taken trees.

The suspected illegal chainsaw operators made made up of :

1. Attah Abeka….30 yrs
2. Prince Abeka….16 yrs
3. Shaibu Frank……17 yrs
4. Nkrumah Isaac….25 yrs
5. Dawuni Attah…..20 yrs
6. Prince Opoku…..17 yrs
7. Ali Issah……24 yrs
8. Yaw Opoku……30 yrs

According to Mr Nifasoyir,this successful operations was made possible through intelligence system set up by Range Supervisors ,Rapid Response Team and Forest Guards and they retrieved five(5) chainsaw machines and seized whiles culprits are in police custody at Nkawie District Police for investigations and prosecutions and spoke with Otec FM reporter Benjamin Kwarteng.

Afterwards when asked his advice for the public regarding to some illegalities by the Public,appeal to all stakeholders to collaborate effectively and effectiveness with Forestry Commission to safeguard the forest reserves from depletion as the government and private individuals have made huge investment towards the forest reserves and the law would deal with any one found on encroaching the forest reserves.
