MTN Ghana Strengthens Workforce Resilience with “Securing Our Digital Future” Campaign

MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its leadership in promoting digital safety and corporate responsibility by empowering its employees with essential cybersecurity knowledge and practical skills through a Cybersecurity Awareness Forum held in Kumasi.

The event, organized by the company’s Northern Business District, took place on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at MTN’s Ashanti Regional Office in Kaase, as part of the company’s annual Global Cybersecurity Awareness Campaign. This year’s campaign, themed “Securing Our Digital Future,” sought to educate employees on emerging cyber threats, promote responsible digital practices, and strengthen the company’s internal cybersecurity culture.

The forum brought together MTN staff from across the Ashanti Region for an interactive and highly engaging session focused on data protection, social engineering, phishing, online scams, and best practices for digital hygiene. Participants were also guided on how to identify suspicious online activities and respond effectively to mitigate risks.

A distinguished panel of MTN Ghana executives led the discussion, including Adwoa Afrakoma Baah Obeng, Senior Manager, Retail Experience – Northern Business District; Jacqueline Hanson-Kotei, Senior Manager, Enterprise Information Security and Governance – MTN Ghana; and Simon Amoh, Senior Manager – Northern Business District.

The experts shared valuable insights on the evolving nature of cyber threats and the critical role employees play in safeguarding digital assets. They emphasized that cybersecurity is not just a technical issue but a shared responsibility that demands awareness, vigilance, and the right mindset from every individual within the organization.

Speaking to journalists after the event, Jacqueline Hanson-Kotei highlighted that cybersecurity has become a vital component of modern business operations and personal life, especially in a time when the world is more connected than ever before.

“Cybersecurity is no longer optional—it’s essential,” she asserted. “As digital technology continues to advance, the threats we face also become more complex. That is why awareness, education, and proactive protection are key to securing both our corporate systems and our personal digital lives.”

She explained that the forum was part of MTN Ghana’s broader strategy to cultivate a cyber-aware workforce and contribute to national efforts to enhance digital literacy and resilience.

“MTN Ghana remains deeply committed to empowering its people,” she said. “We believe that by equipping our employees with cybersecurity knowledge, we are not only protecting the company but also enabling them to become ambassadors of digital safety in their homes, schools, and communities.”

Hanson-Kotei also noted that MTN Ghana is extending its cybersecurity campaign beyond the workplace through public outreach programs, particularly in senior high schools across both urban and rural communities. These initiatives, she explained, aim to educate young people about online risks, data privacy, and responsible digital engagement.

“Our focus is to build a generation that understands technology and uses it responsibly,” she said. “When students learn early how to protect themselves online, they grow into adults who can navigate the digital world with confidence and security.”

Simon Amoh, Senior Manager for the Northern Business District, lauded the high level of staff participation, describing the forum as a timely and transformative initiative.

“This campaign is not just about knowledge—it’s about building resilience,” he remarked. “As we continue to digitize our services and interactions, our people must be empowered to identify and prevent threats before they escalate. This is how we secure MTN’s future and contribute to a safer digital Ghana.”

The event, which featured practical demonstrations and real-life case discussions, received enthusiastic participation from employees who expressed appreciation for the company’s continued investment in cybersecurity training. Many described the forum as an eye-opener that has strengthened their awareness of personal and corporate online safety.

Through initiatives like this, MTN Ghana continues to lead the charge in cybersecurity awareness and digital resilience, ensuring that its workforce is fully equipped to operate confidently in an increasingly connected world.

The company’s unwavering commitment to staff empowerment, technological innovation, and responsible connectivity underscores its mission to secure Ghana’s digital future while building a safer and more informed society.
