Hon. Eric Assebey Seeks Church Collaboration to Drive Municipal Growth

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwadaso, Hon. Eric Assebey, has called for stronger collaboration between churches and the municipal assembly to accelerate development and improve living standards across the municipality.

Speaking at the maiden Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Kumasi North Men’s Fellowship, held at the Freeman Methodist Church in Kwadaso, Hon. Assebey stressed that religious institutions are vital stakeholders in nation-building. He emphasized that the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly is committed to partnering with churches to implement projects that will benefit both congregations and the wider community.

One key avenue of support highlighted by the MCE is the availability of District Road Network Improvement Programme (DRIP) machines. According to him, these machines are accessible to churches and faith-based organizations that wish to undertake developmental initiatives such as road construction, school building, and the establishment of healthcare facilities. “Development is a shared responsibility, and churches have a significant role to play,” Hon. Assebey said. “We encourage our religious organizations to take advantage of the DRIP machines and work with the assembly to bring real change to Kwadaso. When the church and the state join hands, communities are transformed faster.”

The MCE emphasized that while the government continues to invest in infrastructure, active participation from churches and other faith-based groups can complement these efforts and ensure a more inclusive approach to municipal growth.

In response, Bro. Thomas Adjei Soadwah, Diocesan Chairman of the Kumasi North Men’s Fellowship, commended Hon. Assebey for his leadership and for attending the AGM. He praised the MCE’s willingness to engage churches as development partners. “We are grateful for the MCE’s presence and his forward-thinking vision. This collaboration is an opportunity for the church to play a hands-on role in community transformation,” Bro. Soadwah said.
The AGM brought together clergy, municipal leaders, and fellowship members to discuss strategies for fostering stronger ties between the church and government institutions. Speakers highlighted the church’s influence in mobilizing communities and resources, positioning it as a key partner in driving progress.

Hon. Assebey’s call is part of a broader strategy to strengthen public-private partnerships and faith-based initiatives that address developmental challenges in the Kwadaso Municipality and beyond.
