AFCON qualifiers: Antoine Semenyo scores late to secure victory for Ghana against Angola

In a hard-fought encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Ghana secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Angola in a Group E clash on Tuesday evening.

Despite dominating possession in the first half, Ghana failed to capitalize on their opportunities and struggled to break down Angola’s resolute defense. However, the Black Stars came close twice through Mohammed Kudus, and also had a strong penalty appeal turned down after Jordan Ayew was fouled in the box.

In the second half, Ghana continued to press forward and created several chances, but Angola’s goalkeeper Neblu made some crucial saves to keep his side in the game.

With the clock ticking down and the match seemingly destined to end in a draw, Ghana finally found the breakthrough in the dying moments of the game. In the 96th minute, after six minutes of added time, Antoine Semenyo hammered the ball home following a goal-mouth scramble, sending the home fans into raptures.

The result sees Ghana extend their lead at the top of the Group E standings, with seven points from three games.
