In a remarkable act of philanthropy, Care Connect Global LBG, a Ghanaian non-governmental organization (NGO), has extended its benevolence to prisoners, widows, and the homeless in Kumasi.
On February 22, 2025, the organization visited Manhyia Local Prisons, where it provided meals for more than 250 inmates, reinforcing its commitment to uplifting the underprivileged. The initiative also catered to widows, widowers, and street beggars, offering them food packages and essential supplies.
Supporting the Incarcerated and Homeless
Each inmate at Manhyia Local Prisons received a warm meal package, consisting of jollof rice, bottled water, and a drink. The NGO then proceeded to Kumasi Business Centre, where it distributed bags of rice to widows and widowers, easing their financial burden. The outreach extended to homeless individuals and street beggars, ensuring they, too, benefited from the organization’s generosity.
A Message of Hope and Inclusion
Speaking to Newsmen ,Madam Beatrice Boahemaa, President of Care Connect Global LBG, underscored the organization’s mission to provide support and hope to vulnerable individuals.
She emphasized that some inmates find themselves behind bars due to circumstances beyond their control, and it is crucial to remind them that prison is not the end of their journey.
“There are many people here who were jailed not because of their own faults. As an NGO, we saw the need to share a meal with them so they feel a sense of belonging. Our aim is to motivate them and let them know that prison is not their final destination—they can still build a brighter future,” she said.
Beyond the prison walls, Care Connect Global LBG remains committed to eradicating hardship across Africa, striving to empower the less privileged through sustained humanitarian efforts.
Gratitude from Manhyia Prisons
ASP Oppong Clifford Amoako, the Second-in-Command (2iC) in Charge of Education at Manhyia Local Prisons, expressed profound gratitude for the organization’s support. He noted that such gestures uplift the spirits of inmates and offer them hope.
“We are deeply appreciative of this kind gesture by the NGO. Whenever the inmates receive such support, they feel excited and hopeful. The Manhyia Local Prisons and its inmates need continuous assistance from the public, and we encourage all stakeholders to come on board,” he remarked.
