The District Chief Executive of Afigya Kwabre South District Hon. Christian Adu Poku popularly known as (APC) has emphatically stated that teachers are the light of the world and there is therefore, the need to give them every support for them to offer their best to the country.
He said it would boost their morale towards the enhancement of education in Afigya Kwabre South District.
In his submission,the District Education Director,David Akomea Asokwa pointed out that teachers who have served for seven years were required to be awarded to further improve the quality of education in the district.
The Chairman for the occasion,Nana Boakye Yam Ababio,Nkwantakesehene in his address,bemoaned the trend of posthumous award in the country describing it as non-relevance and called for an end to it.
He said teachers must be rewarded while alive and later receive the DIVINE award after death.
Nana urged non-recipients to whip up their efforts to be rewarded in subsequent editions while he enjoined the awardees to see the honour as motivating factor to put in their best to give education a face-lift in the district.
He disclosed a number of heads of some companies in the area made enormous contribution towards the provision of the items to the awardees and commended them for their aid.
For her part,the Overall Best Teacher,Edna Amoako Atta,who went home with a giant deep-freezer,expressed delight
for emerging as the best teacher.
