St. Monica’s SHS Appeals for Assembly Hall, Dining Hall, Buses, Library and Water Facilities Despite Academic Excellence

The Headmistress of St. Monica’s Senior High School at Asante Mampong of the Ashanti Region, Dr. Mrs. Cynthia Asamoah Gyimah, has made an urgent appeal to the government, old students and benevolent individuals to help provide the school with critical infrastructure.

She explained that despite the school’s outstanding academic performance over the last five years — excelling in WASSCE results, quiz competitions, sports and debates — facilities have not kept pace with its growing population of 3,750 students.

“Our dining hall is doubling as an assembly space and it can’t seat everyone. We need a proper assembly hall to bring the whole school together,” Dr. Asamoah Gyimah stressed. She also called for more school buses, noting that the current three are inadequate for transporting students to events, often forcing the school to rent vehicles at high cost.

The headmistress further appealed for a modern library to enhance academic work and additional mechanised boreholes to ensure a steady water supply.

Some students, speaking on behalf of their peers, echoed their headmistress’s call, repeating the urgent need for an assembly hall, extra school buses, a modern library, and reliable water facilities, stressing that these would greatly improve academic work and campus life.
