Nhyiaeso MP Commissions Ultra-Modern 33-Classroom Block for State Experimental M/A Basic School

The Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Hon. Dr. Stephen Amoah, affectionately known as “Sticka,” has commissioned a state-of-the-art three-storey, 33-classroom block for the State Experimental M/A Basic School in Kumasi.

The commissioning ceremony, held in collaboration with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly and the Kumasi Metro Education Directorate, marks a significant milestone in the MP’s efforts to expand and modernize educational infrastructure within the constituency.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Dr. Amoah revealed that the project was fully funded through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund). He emphasized his unwavering commitment to education, describing it as the cornerstone of development. According to him, the new facility will accommodate over 1,500 pupils, effectively addressing the long-standing issue of overcrowding in the school.

He urged school management to develop a robust maintenance culture to preserve the facility for future generations. “We must ensure that this investment serves not only today’s pupils but generations to come,” he stated.

Dr. Amoah further disclosed that he has devoted his entire four-year Common Fund allocation to education, citing the provision of over 2,400 tables and chairs to schools, distribution of computers to all senior high schools in the constituency, and the award of 700 scholarships to students both at home and abroad as key achievements.

On social issues, the MP expressed grave concern over the growing trend of robbery and drug abuse among the youth in the constituency. He urged parents and community leaders to take active roles in shaping the moral upbringing of children. He also cautioned against the use of unregistered motorbikes and the sale of alcohol or tobacco to minors, warning of strict enforcement of the law.

The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, who graced the occasion, lauded the State Experimental M/A Basic School for its pivotal role in shaping Ghana’s human capital. He assured the school of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s continued support and commended Dr. Amoah for his remarkable contributions to education.

In her remarks, the Headmistress of State Experimental M/A Basic School (One), Mrs. Joana Anokyewaa, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MP and all stakeholders. While celebrating the new edifice, she appealed for further support in addressing pressing needs such as landscaping, a security fence wall, prevention of encroachment, and the establishment of essential facilities including a science lab, computer lab, and a modern library.

The joyous ceremony was attended by traditional leaders, education officials, staff, students, and community members who hailed the new facility as a transformative addition to the school.
