Omanhene of Prestea Divisional Council Nana Nteboah Prah IV Donates 10 Computers to Himan Methodist JHS to Boost ICT Education

The Omanhene of the Prestea Himan Divisional Council, Nana Nteboah Prah IV, has made a significant contribution to the educational development of Himan Methodist Junior High School (JHS) by donating 10 computers and related accessories to the institution. Accompanied by his chiefs from the surrounding areas, Nana Nteboah Prah IV personally handed over the donation to the school in a ceremony held to mark the occasion.

Speaking to journalists during the presentation, Nana Nteboah Prah IV explained that the decision to donate the computers came after the school authorities reached out to the traditional council. The authorities reported that the school only had one functional computer, while the rest were malfunctioning, making it difficult for students to learn Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This posed a significant challenge to the school’s efforts to teach ICT effectively.

In response to the issue, the traditional council decided to donate 10 computers, complete with accessories, to enhance the school’s ICT teaching and learning experience. Nana Nteboah Prah IV emphasized the importance of integrating technology into the education system, especially in today’s digital age, where access to computers and technology is crucial for student development.

“This donation is aimed at improving the learning environment for the students and giving them better exposure to the world of computing. It is important that students are equipped with the necessary skills in ICT as it is essential in this modern world,” Nana Nteboah Prah IV stated.

He also urged the students and teachers of Himan Methodist JHS to take good care of the computers so that they can serve their intended purpose for years to come. Nana Nteboah Prah IV assured the school that the traditional council would cover the maintenance costs of the computers for the next month, ensuring their continued functionality and use. Additionally, he cautioned teachers not to remove the computers from the school premises for personal use, as this could lead to the loss of the valuable resources. He emphasized that any assignments should be done within the school to prevent the potential loss or damage of the computers.

“We are providing these resources to ensure that the students can learn effectively. Please take good care of them so that future generations can benefit from these computers,” Nana Nteboah Prah IV urged.

The students and teachers of Himan Methodist JHS expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Nana Nteboah Prah IV and the Prestea Himan Traditional Council for their generosity. According to the students, the absence of functioning computers in the school had made it difficult to learn ICT. However, with the new computers, they are confident that they will now be able to improve their ICT skills and perform better in their studies.

“We are very grateful to Nana Nteboah Prah IV and the traditional council for this generous donation. It will make ICT learning much easier for us. We promise to study hard and bring home the trophy in every quiz competition we participate in,” a student representative said.

The students also took the opportunity to make a heartfelt appeal to the Assembly Member for Prestea Himan Electoral Area, Hon. Dr. Alex Baakoh, popularly known as Abroso, to provide mathematical sets for the final-year students preparing for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), as he had done for previous years. Furthermore, they appealed to Dr. Nana Abroso, the government, and other education stakeholders to assist in the construction of a science laboratory for Himan Methodist JHS. They believe that a well-equipped science laboratory will significantly improve the teaching and learning of science subjects at the school.

The donation of computers by the Prestea Himan Traditional Council is a commendable effort to address the growing need for ICT resources in schools, and it reflects a commitment to fostering better educational outcomes in the region. With this initiative, the students of Himan Methodist JHS are now better equipped to meet the challenges of the 21st century digital landscape.
