Obuasi West MCE Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin Embarks on Thank-You Tour, Appeals to Chiefs for Lands to Support Government Flagship Projects

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi West, Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin, together with departmental heads from the Obuasi West Municipal Assembly, has embarked on a thank-you tour across key traditional areas within the municipality.
The tour, which included visits to the palaces of Akrokeri and Dompoase, was both a formal introduction of the MCE to the traditional rulers and an opportunity to seek their support—particularly the release of land banks—for government flagship programmes and development-oriented projects.
During her engagements, Hon. Appiah Kannin stressed the urgency of making land readily available to support government projects and attract private investors who are eager to contribute to the growth of Obuasi.
“Government projects can only materialize when there is land. If we are to benefit from the 24-hour economy market, the Smart SDG Cities agenda, and other flagship programmes, we need your support to make land available,” she stated. “This will also encourage investors who are ready to bring development to our municipality.”
She pointed out that Obuasi is in dire need of a Nursing and Midwifery Training College, and highlighted the potential benefits of programmes such as the 24-hour economy initiative and the Ghana Smart SDG Cities Programme, which aim to promote job creation, infrastructure, and sustainable development.
The MCE took time to explain the Ghana Smart SDG Cities Programme—a national policy that aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—and urged the traditional leaders to support the initiative by ensuring land accessibility for urban planning and infrastructure development.
In a show of solidarity, the Chief of Dompoase, Okofo Kwabena Bonsu, and other traditional leaders assured the MCE of their full cooperation. They pledged to release lands to support both government and investor-led projects that would benefit the people of Obuasi.
“We are committed to supporting your vision and the government’s agenda. Land will not be a barrier. We are ready to offer what we have to make Obuasi a better place,” Okofo Kwabena Bonsu affirmed.
The thank-you tour by Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin signals a strong, community-focused beginning to her tenure as MCE. It reflects her vision for inclusive governance, strategic partnerships, and infrastructure-led development to transform Obuasi West into a thriving municipality.
