MIOTSO POLICE ARRESTS ‘PRIME SUSPECT’ IN CATTLE RANCH ATTACK AND ABDUCTION CASE

Prime suspect in an armed attack which led to the kidnapping of a Fulani herdsman at the Miotso Cattle Ranch near Prampram in the Greater Accra Region Anum Adams who is said to be the Chief of Asorshie, near Prampram has been arrested by the Prampram Divisional Police Command.

The Prampram Divisional Police Command arrested four men who allegedly attacked the Cattle Ranch.

Divisional Crime Officer Chief Superintendent Cecilia Arko who paraded three of the suspects for identification on a possible link to other related crimes in the area said the police were still on a manhunt for an alleged leader of the gang.

According to Police Chief Superintendent Cecilia Arko, Divisional Crime Officer of Prampram, on Monday, January 18, 2021, it was reported that a gang of six, guns and other offensive wielding men riding motor bikes and two cars stormed a Cattle Ranch where the Asafoiatse of Agbazo Wem in Prampram Nene Lartey Bantama keeps his cattle with those of others amidst sporadic shootings.

The gang abducted one of the herdsmen and inflicted several gunshot wounds on another herdsman who managed to escape. She said one cow was also killed in the process.

At identification parade of three out of the four arrested gang members, Chief Superintendent Cecilia Arko, said it was the boldness of an eyewitness which saved the wounded escapee. She said the police thereafter, upon a tip-off, arrested four of the perpetrators at their hideouts.

Weeks after, an alleged leader of the gang as identified by the Asafoiatse of Agbazo Wem Nene Lartey Bantama earlier one Anum Adams who wields himself as the chief of Asroshie, near Prampram who hitherto was on the run has been arrested but Nene Bantama says he smells rat in the way the police are handling the suspect.

Addressing the press, the Asafoiatse said he thinks there is an “order from above” to pervert the justice process.

“Why is the Devtraco Police being prevented from parading the gang leaders for media coverage? I think there is someone within the rank and file of the authorities that be who is working hard to suppress this man’s story from being told”. Nene Bantama exclaimed.

The Asafoiatse called for a thorough investigation into the matter and ensure justice prevails.

“I call on the President of the Republic of Ghana, Inspector General of Police Service, Director-General of Ghana Criminal Investigation Department and opinion leaders to help investigate the injustice within the Police service.

This is crucial because the current state of kidnaps in the area is assuming alarming trend”. He concluded.
