The Zongo Chairman of Manso Tontokrom in the Amansie south district of the Ashanti Region, Mr. Ibrahim Haruna, has issued a strong call to the youth, urging them to abstain from drug abuse and instead focus on education, skill development, and making positive contributions to society.
Speaking in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region, Mr. Haruna expressed deep concern over the increasing trend of substance abuse among young people, describing it as a major threat to their future and the overall progress of the community.
Call for Discipline During Ramadan
With the holy month of Ramadan underway, he emphasized the need for all Muslims to embrace discipline and sanity while observing the fast. He encouraged the youth to rely on their faith for strength, urging them to use the period for spiritual renewal and personal development rather than indulging in harmful habits.
Push for Educational and Religious Development
Beyond his advocacy against drug abuse, Mr. Haruna highlighted two key development projects currently under construction in the Manso Tontokrom Zongo community:
1. A Community Mosque – A place of worship and spiritual guidance for Muslims in the area.
2. The Makalanta Block – An educational facility designed to support learning and provide opportunities for local children.
Joining him in the appeal were Mr. Amadu Gariba, the Chief Imam of Manso Tontokrom Zongo, and Mr. Abu Salifu, both of whom stressed the need for urgent financial and material support from the government, philanthropists, and well-meaning individuals to complete these critical projects.
A Call for Collective Action
The leaders believe that once completed, the mosque and the school will serve as pillars for both spiritual and academic growth, offering the youth a strong foundation to build their futures. They urged the community to unite in support of these initiatives, stressing that investing in education and religious infrastructure will foster a more disciplined, knowledgeable, and self-sufficient generation.
The Manso Tontokrom Zongo community remains determined to see these projects through, believing that their completion will empower the youth, strengthen community values, and promote development in the area.
