Manso Tontokrom Muslims Celebrate Eid al-Adha: Chief Imam Calls for Peace and Infrastructure Support

Muslims in Manso Tontokrom, located in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region, joined their counterparts across the globe to mark this year’s Eid al-Adha with fervent prayers and a renewed call for peace, unity, and infrastructure development.
Leading the congregation, the Chief Imam of Manso Tontokrom, Amidu Gariba, urged Muslims to remain peaceful and law-abiding to help promote national development. According to him, peace is a vital prerequisite for progress in any country, and Ghana is no exception.
He further appealed to the government to give greater attention to the challenges facing rural communities, particularly Zongo settlements. The Chief Imam emphasized that inadequate infrastructure in these areas continues to impede access to quality education and healthcare. He noted that with support in the form of good roads, school facilities, ongoing masalakyi (mosque) infrastructure projects, and other basic amenities, the youth can be empowered to contribute meaningfully to national growth.
Speaking to journalists during the celebration, Mr. Haruna Iddrisu, a respected community leader, echoed the call for development and responsible youth behavior. He advised the youth to avoid social vices such as drug abuse, truancy, and violence, which he warned could jeopardize their future.
“The youth must focus on making positive choices that will benefit themselves and the entire community,” he stated.
Mr. Iddrisu also made a passionate appeal to the government to address the deplorable road conditions in Manso Tontokrom. He described the poor road network as a major obstacle to the movement of people and goods. Improving these roads, he said, would boost local trade and improve access to schools and health centers.
This year’s Eid celebration brought together hundreds of Muslim faithful who marked the occasion with congregational prayers, sermons, and the traditional sacrifice of animals, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering obedience and devotion to Allah. The event also served as a moment of community solidarity, reflection, and renewed commitment to values of sacrifice, compassion, and development.
