Members of Asanteman Nkosuo, a pro NPP identifiable group in the Ashanti Region have made a humble appeal to president Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo to as matter of urgency appoint the grassroots’ choice in his quest to mention MMDCEs.
According to the which disclosed it had presented one person to be appointed as MCE, it’s high time the President considers their choice. Hence their appeal to the president to consider the competent and loyal candidate for the position.
“We have submitted someone who has been loyal to the party since 1992 up to date.
He was a polling agent, party coordinator, and also became the youth organizer of his municipality.
He contested as deputy secretary of the great NPP party and has excelled in every position and task given him.
He deserves to be pushed to continue the hard work for the party. He has served as assembly member of his electoral area for three consecutive times and at the recent MCE vetting, he was adjudged one of the best candidates, and we believe his appointment as the MCE will impact a greater and positive change”. The said.
Dr Mohammed Issah Ababio, Chairman of the association revealed that regardless of the external hands tampering with the appointment and Other issues arising, they are confident Nana Addo will surely weigh up their support and furnish their humble request.
Urging the president not to depend on choices of chiefs the appointment of the MMDCE’s, the group disclosed that chiefs, who are non partisan in terms of politics and play no role in party’s campaign can make a choice that could negatively affect the party in a near future.
“This is not to say chiefs do not make right decisions, but we just want chiefs to be in their line of jurisdiction”. They said.
They however warn that chiefs will campaign in 2024 should the president fail to heed the grassroots or reject their choices.
Addressing the Media in a news conference on Sunday, chairman of Asanteman Nkosuo, Dr Mohammed Issah Ababio seized the opportunity appeal to the government not to repeat the mistake he did on some appointments of MMDCE’S in his first term which almost cost the party during the December 2020 election.
Dr. Mohammed Issah Ababio said if NPP is determined to break the eight(8), then seeking political counselling from chiefs must be stopped.
He also debunked the accusations against president Akuffo Addo Eastern Region and neglecting Ashanti Region when it comes to development.
He said there’s no single iota of truth in such allegations against the president.
He vividly disclosed that the president had given ministerial positions to some people from the Ashanti Region, but the fact is they can’t perform up to task to transforming the region.
Our region would have been developed if our Ministers were able to perform their duties well”. He concluded.
