Retired Clergyman Criticizes Christian Council’s Silence on Ministerial Vetting, Warns of National Crisis
A retired Methodist clergyman, Very Rev. J.B. Danquah, has strongly condemned the Christian Council of Ghana for its silence on the ongoing ministerial vetting process under the Mahama-led NDC government. He cautioned that the Council’s failure to speak out could have grave consequences for the nation.
Very Rev. Danquah argued that religious institutions have a moral duty to engage in national issues and hold leaders accountable. He warned that the Christian Council risks being perceived as “incompetent” if it continues to ignore the ministerial appointments and vetting process.
He further called on other religious bodies, including the Muslim leadership and the Catholic Secretariat, to take an active interest in governance, stressing that their collective voice is crucial in safeguarding national integrity and stability.
According to him, silence from faith-based organizations could push the country toward instability, and he urged religious leaders to rise to their responsibility before it is too late.
