Vemed Health Project Ghana Limited, the construction firm that worked on the Sefwi Akontombra District Government hospital facility has handed over the project to the Ministry of Health and the Western North Regional Health Directorate and other stakeholders for commissioning and operationalization.
In the presence of the technical handing over of the facility were the Project Coordinator for the Ministry of Health, Joyce Eryan and Dr Nicholas Adjabu, Head of Biomedical Engineering Unit and Infrastructure Directorate at the Ministry of Health.
Presenting the keys on behalf of the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu to the Western North Regional Health Directorate, Dr Nicolas Adjabu noted that, it’s the Minister and the government’s vision to bring quality health care to the door steps of the people.
He added that the Chief Director at the Ministry is also commending the good job done by the Contractor, Vamed Health Project Ghana Limited.
Receiving the keys on behalf of the Western North Regional Directorate, Dr Kingsley Osei Kwakye, Western North Regional Deputy Director Public Health thanked the Minister of Health and the government for always thinking about the plight of the people in the Western North Region as far as Health issues are concerned.
Facility
The 40 bed capacity facility is made up of seven buildings, the guards main building, the technical building, staff house, kitchen and mother and child building.
Also, the facility has Administration block, the operations and theatre Block and two semi detached, a mortuary which can accommodate five bodies at a time.
A brand new pickup, an ambulance and four motor bikes were also presented and handed over to the authorities.
Speaking in an interview with UTV’s Western North Regional Correspondent, Kwabena Dickson after the ceremony, the Member of Parliament for Sefwi Akontombra, Mr Alex Djornuboah Tetteh commended the Nana Addo led NPP government for the enviable and unprecedented development in the area since the they won power in 2016.
The MP stated that the project was started in 2018 and has finally been completed.
He appealed to the staff and workers of the facility to work diligently so that residents in the area will benefit from the hospital and achieve it’s purpose.
However, the Chief of Sefwi Akontombra, Nana Kwabena Ebi II commended President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Vice for putting up such a well-equipped hospital in his community.
Nana Kwabena Ebi ll who promised to provide accommodation for the health workers until the government provide them with accommodation facilities, used the opportunity to appeal to the President to extend the facility and add additional 60 capacity beds to the hospital to reach the status of the Agenda 111 hospitals been spread across the length and breath of the country.
The District Chief Executive Officer for Sefwi Akontombra, Mr Yawson Amoah thanked the Member of Parliament for the area, thanked the Chiefs in the Akontombra district and residents in the area for their massive support they have given to the government for the successful completion of the hospital project.
