Ashanti Regional Minister Hosts NSA Director General Ahead of AshantiFest 2025 Sporting Extravaganza

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, today welcomed the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Dodzie Numekevor, in a warm and strategic engagement ahead of the highly anticipated AshantiFest Football Match and Boxing Night scheduled for Saturday.

The courtesy visit by the NSA boss formed part of a series of stakeholder engagements and regional briefings aimed at ensuring a successful rollout of AshantiFest 2025 — a celebration that blends the vibrant traditions, sporting excellence, and cultural heritage of the Ashanti Region.

During the meeting, Dr. Amoakohene expressed appreciation to Mr. Numekevor and the NSA for their continued support in promoting sports development across the country, especially in the Ashanti Region. He emphasized the importance of sports as a tool for uniting communities, nurturing talent, and driving youth empowerment.

“We are excited about the AshantiFest celebration, which continues to showcase the vibrant spirit of our region through sports, culture, and unity. Tomorrow’s Football Match and Boxing Night will be a testament to the passion and energy that define Ashanti,” the Minister stated.

In addition to Mr. Numekevor’s visit, the Ashanti Region is also set to host the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Kofi Adams, who will be joining other dignitaries and thousands of sports enthusiasts at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to witness the AshantiFest sporting spectacles.

The AshantiFest Football Match and Boxing Night are expected to draw massive crowds and feature top-tier athletes, local stars, and traditional performances. The event symbolizes the region’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, discipline through sports, and regional pride.

Hon. Dr. Amoakohene called on residents, especially the youth, to turn out in their numbers and support the event, ensuring a memorable and colorful celebration.

“AshantiFest is more than just a festival — it is a movement that champions our identity, unity, and development. Let’s come together and make it a celebration to remember,” he added.

AshantiFest 2025 is organized in collaboration with the National Sports Authority, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, traditional leaders, and various community stakeholders.
