Apostle Nyamekye Calls on Christians to Embrace Forgiveness at PCC Easter Convention

Christians have been urged to embrace forgiveness as a vital expression of their faith—letting go of bitterness and extending grace to others, just as Christ did. The call came from Apostle Dominic Nyamekye, National Chairman of the Pentecostal Church of Christ (PCC), during the climax of the church’s four-day national Easter convention held at the Asonomaso Presbyterian School Park.

Addressing thousands of worshippers gathered under the Easter theme “Redeemed” from Galatians 3:13, Apostle Nyamekye emphasized that forgiveness lies at the heart of Christian redemption.

“Jesus Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection were acts of divine mercy to bring humanity closer to God. As beneficiaries of this grace, Christians must show that same mercy by forgiving others,” he said. “We must not allow grudges, anger, or resentment to corrupt our spiritual lives.”

He explained that redemption means being rescued from the bondage of sin and separation from God. “Through Christ, we are no longer bound by the curse of the law. He paid the ultimate price by becoming a curse for us so that we might be set free,” he stated, quoting Galatians 3:13: “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us.”

Apostle Nyamekye encouraged Christians to live renewed lives inspired by the resurrection of Jesus—marked by compassion, humility, and love. “Easter is not just a celebration. It is a call to action—to reflect Christ in all we do and say,” he added.

Apostle Yaw Amed Dickson, the Mission Director of the Church, also emphasized the significance of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection to the Christian faith. He reminded the congregation that Easter is a time for solemn reflection on the hope and salvation secured through Christ’s ultimate sacrifice.

He encouraged Christians to live in accordance with the principles of Christ, especially during these challenging times.

The well-attended convention also featured powerful messages from notable personalities, including former President John Dramani Mahama. In a speech read on his behalf by Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Mr. Mahama highlighted the lessons of humility and servant leadership embodied by Christ.

“Jesus Christ laid down His life not for personal gain but for the good of all humanity. That is the heart of selflessness, service, and true leadership,” Hon. Afriyie Ankrah said.

He further conveyed Mr. Mahama’s vision to institute a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving—a solemn occasion for Ghanaians to seek divine guidance and rededicate the nation to God. “Very soon, President Mahama will declare a national day of prayer and thanksgiving—a moment for the whole country to come together and commit our lives and future into the hands of the Lord,” he announced.

Hon. Afriyie Ankrah also encouraged the church to remain united in purpose, work together in faith, and contribute positively to the development of the country. “Let us rise in unity and vision to build the Ghana we all desire,” he charged.

Also speaking at the convention was former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. John Boadu. Reflecting on the outcome of the 2024 general elections, he urged members of the NPP not to lose hope.

“What happened in the 2024 elections is perhaps a sign that God is preparing the NPP to bounce back stronger in 2028,” he said.

Mr. Boadu appealed to NPP supporters to remain disciplined and focused, emphasizing that national development should continue irrespective of which party is in power. He expressed optimism that the current NDC government under President Mahama would continue many of the development projects initiated by the previous NPP administration.

He also echoed the theme of the convention, urging Christians to live lives worthy of their calling. “If we are truly redeemed, then it must show in our actions, our words, and how we serve each other and the nation,” he stated.

The Easter Convention drew hundreds of worshippers from the Kwabre East Municipality and beyond, all gathered in worship, prayer, and fellowship to commemorate the resurrection of Christ and its enduring message of hope, love, and transformation.

The event also saw the participation of Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who used the occasion to appeal to President John Dramani Mahama to fulfill his 2024 campaign promises. These include the implementation of the 24-hour economy, addressing the recurring power outages (popularly known as “dumsor”), and intensifying the fight against illegal mining (galamsey).

He urged the President to take swift and decisive action on these pressing national issues for the betterment of the country.
