Amakye Bare D/A JHS Emerges Overall Winner of the 2025 Frank Yeboah Spelling Bee Competition
Amakye Bare D/A Junior High School has emerged as the overall winner of the 4th Edition of the Frank Yeboah Annual Spelling Bee Competition held in 2025, after an impressive performance that saw the school score the highest points at the grand finale.
The keenly contested academic event brought together a total of thirty-six (36) basic schools from across the Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency. After several preliminary rounds marked by intense competition and spelling excellence, only three schools qualified for the grand finale. These were Amakye Bare D/A JHS, Achiase D/A JHS and Dabaa D/A JHS.

At the end of the final round, Achiase D/A JHS placed third with seventy-three (73) points, Dabaa D/A JHS secured second position with seventy-six (76) points, while host school Amakye Bare D/A JHS emerged winners with an outstanding eighty-nine (89) points. The victory marked a historic moment for Amakye Bare D/A JHS, as it was the first time the school had both hosted and won the competition.

As part of the awards, the third-place school, Achiase D/A JHS, received a cash prize of One Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢1,000). Dabaa D/A JHS, which placed second, was awarded One Thousand Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢1,500) in cash along with additional gifts. The winners, Amakye Bare D/A JHS, received a cash prize of Two Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢2,000), a special award, and assorted gifts from the Member of Parliament for Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency, Hon. Frank Yeboah, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Frank Yeboah Spelling Bee Competition.

Speaking at the gathering, Hon. Frank Yeboah explained that the spelling bee initiative was not politically motivated, contrary to some public perceptions. He firmly refuted claims that the competition was designed to help him win or retain his parliamentary seat, stressing that the core objective was to promote education and create opportunities for academic excellence within the constituency. According to him, the competition serves as a platform to build students’ confidence, sharpen their communication skills and inspire them to aim higher in their academic pursuits.

The Member of Parliament stated that he remains fully committed to sustaining the competition, adding that he would continue to support the initiative for as long as he lives or until he is called by his Maker. He further revealed that one of the long-term visions of the competition is what he described as “Agenda 10-10-10,” an ambition to help raise at least ten doctors and ten engineers from the constituency within a ten-year period.
Providing an update on the progress of this vision, Hon. Frank Yeboah disclosed that two medical doctors have already begun their doctorate programmes, while two engineering students have also started their engineering courses in their first year at the tertiary level. He described this development as encouraging and a clear indication that the investment in education is yielding positive results.

Addressing the students, the MP urged them not to be overly worried about how they would finance their education after senior high school, assuring them that with dedication, discipline and faith, God would make a way for them. He encouraged them to study hard, remain focused and work towards achieving their future goals so they can return to contribute meaningfully to the development of the Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency.
He also called on parents and guardians to play active roles in the education of their children by supporting them at home, particularly by helping with homework and monitoring their academic progress. He cautioned students against neglecting their books during the Christmas break and advised them to use the period productively to revise and prepare for the next academic term.

The programme attracted a large gathering, including traditional leaders, students, parents, teachers, headteachers, politicians and residents from various communities within the constituency, underscoring the importance attached to education and youth development in the area.

Some of the participating schools, though they did not make it to the top three, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Frank Yeboah for initiating and sustaining the spelling bee competition. They noted that the competition has significantly boosted their confidence and improved their interest in academics. The students pledged to study harder and strive towards achieving their educational and career goals in the years ahead.
