The National Health Students Association of Ghana (NAHSAG) has honoured Dr. Mary Awusi with a Citation of Honour in recognition of her remarkable support for the Association’s Women Empowerment Programme.

The ceremony, held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, was spearheaded by the Women’s Wing of the Association under the leadership of the Women’s Commissioner, Ms. Priscilla Sankofia. She commended Dr. Awusi for her commitment to nurturing young women and creating opportunities for future leaders in the health sector.

Although Dr. Awusi could not attend the programme in person, her colleagues, Dr. Patience Acorlor, Director of Corporate Affairs & PR, and Hajia Hanatu Abubakar-Bimi, Director of Administration, received the citation on her behalf.

In a message of appreciation, Dr. Awusi expressed heartfelt gratitude to NAHSAG for the recognition, describing it as both an honour and a call to continue empowering the next generation of women in health.

“This recognition is not just about me, but about the importance of creating platforms that support women to break barriers, lead confidently, and transform communities. I am deeply grateful to NAHSAG for this honour and I remain committed to initiatives that empower and inspire young women across the country,” she said.

NAHSAG, the umbrella body representing all health-related student associations in Ghana, has over the years spearheaded leadership and capacity-building programmes that prepare students for professional excellence. Its Women’s Wing continues to champion causes that highlight gender equity, mentorship, and the active participation of women in the nation’s healthcare landscape.

The honour bestowed on Dr. Awusi underscores NAHSAG’s commitment to celebrating individuals whose contributions align with its mission of building a stronger, more inclusive health sector for Ghana.
