Health Students’ Association Applauds Dr. Mary Awusi’s Commitment to Women in Leadership
The National Health Students Association of Ghana (NAHSAG) has applauded Dr. Mary Awusi for her outstanding dedication to promoting women’s leadership in the health sector, honouring her with a prestigious Citation of Honour.

The recognition was presented on Thursday, August 21, 2025, by the Women’s Wing of NAHSAG, led by the Women’s Commissioner, Ms. Priscilla Sankofia. She described Dr. Awusi as a beacon of inspiration for young women aspiring to leadership roles and praised her consistent support for the Association’s Women Empowerment Programme.
Although Dr. Awusi was unable to attend the event in person, her colleagues — Dr. Patience Acorlor, Director of Corporate Affairs & PR, and Hajia Hanatu Abubakar-Bimi, Director of Administration — received the citation on her behalf.
In her message of appreciation, Dr. Awusi expressed profound gratitude to NAHSAG for the honour, noting that the recognition reaffirms her commitment to advancing women’s empowerment within the health sector.
“This honour is a reminder of the responsibility we carry as leaders to open doors for others, especially women, to thrive and lead. When women are empowered, society benefits as a whole. I am truly grateful to NAHSAG for this recognition and I remain dedicated to initiatives that inspire and equip the next generation of women leaders,” she stated.
NAHSAG, the umbrella body representing all health-related student associations across Ghana, continues to serve as a platform for capacity-building, advocacy, and mentorship for future health professionals. Its Women’s Wing has been at the forefront of championing gender equality and creating opportunities that prepare young women to excel in leadership and service.
The honour bestowed on Dr. Awusi highlights NAHSAG’s commitment to celebrating trailblazers who contribute meaningfully to student development, women’s empowerment, and the growth of Ghana’s health sector.
