NAHSAG Women’s Wing Honours Dr. Mary Awusi for Empowering Young Women in Health
The Women’s Wing of the National Health Students Association of Ghana (NAHSAG) has honoured Dr. Mary Awusi with a Citation of Honour in recognition of her unwavering support towards their Women Empowerment Programme.

The event, held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, was led by NAHSAG Women’s Commissioner, Ms. Priscilla Sankofia, who praised Dr. Awusi for her dedication to nurturing and empowering young women in the health sector. She noted that the recognition was not only a tribute to Dr. Awusi’s contributions but also a call to action for other leaders to invest in the potential of women.
Although Dr. Awusi was unable to attend the ceremony in person, the citation was graciously received on her behalf by Dr. Patience Acorlor, Director of Corporate Affairs & PR, and Hajia Hanatu Abubakar-Bimi, Director of Administration.
In a message of appreciation, Dr. Awusi expressed deep gratitude to NAHSAG for the honour, describing it as a reminder of the responsibility leaders have in shaping the future of women in healthcare.
“This honour is not just for me, but for all women who continue to break barriers and create opportunities for others. I believe that when women are empowered, the entire nation benefits. I remain committed to supporting initiatives that inspire and empower the next generation of women leaders in the health sector,” she stated.
NAHSAG, which serves as the umbrella body for health-related student associations across Ghana, has been at the forefront of leadership training, mentorship, and advocacy for health students. Its Women’s Wing has particularly focused on initiatives aimed at equipping young women with the confidence and skills needed to thrive in the health industry.
The recognition of Dr. Awusi forms part of NAHSAG’s broader mission to acknowledge individuals and partners whose efforts create meaningful opportunities for student development, gender empowerment, and the advancement of healthcare leadership in Ghana.
