Ashanti Region Set to Welcome President Mahama as NDC Kicks Off “Thank You” Tour at Jubilee Park on July 16th, 2025

The Ashanti Region is gearing up for a massive political gathering as President John Dramani Mahama, leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), leads a regional “Thank You” tour at the iconic Jubilee Park in Kumasi on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at exactly 9:00 a.m.
The tour forms part of the President’s nationwide outreach to express heartfelt appreciation to Ghanaians, especially the people of the Ashanti Region, for the confidence reposed in him during the 2024 general elections. The NDC made historic gains in the region, which has traditionally been a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), including increased parliamentary seats and significant improvement in the presidential vote count.
With the Ashanti Region playing a key role in the NDC’s electoral success, President Mahama’s visit is seen as both a symbolic gesture of gratitude and a strategic move to deepen political engagement in the region. Thousands of party loyalists, floating voters, youth groups, artisans, and market women from all 47 constituencies are expected to fill the Jubilee Park in a show of solidarity.
A statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Communications Directorate of the NDC emphasized that the President’s visit is a testament to his administration’s commitment to inclusivity and national unity.
“This event is a symbol of appreciation and renewed partnership. President John Dramani Mahama is visiting the Ashanti Region to say thank you, reconnect with the people, and assure them of his unwavering commitment to delivering inclusive development and good governance,” the statement read.
Preparations at the venue are in full swing, with party colors adorning the park, sound systems being tested, and cultural groups rehearsing to set the tone for what is expected to be one of the biggest political events of the year. The celebration will feature speeches, performances, and community engagements throughout the day.
President Mahama is expected to deliver a major address that will highlight the government’s development agenda, including policies aimed at job creation, infrastructure expansion, education reform, and economic recovery. He will also use the occasion to interact directly with local leaders, business owners, students, and other key community stakeholders.
The President will be joined by top officials of the NDC, including National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and Ashanti Regional Chairman Augustus Nana Akwasi Andrews.
Security services, in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service and the party’s internal security, have assured the public of a peaceful and well-coordinated event. Health and sanitation teams will also be deployed to provide first aid and ensure cleanliness at the venue.
This “Thank You” tour represents more than an act of political gratitude—it signifies a new phase of governance where every region, including the Ashanti Region, plays a central role in national development. The NDC under President Mahama is determined to bridge political divides and deliver progress that benefits every Ghanaian, regardless of regional or party affiliation.
The party has extended an open invitation to all supporters, sympathizers, and members of the general public to be part of this historic event, which it describes as a celebration of democracy, gratitude, and renewed hope for Ghana’s future.
