Hon. Boachie De-graft Maxwell Secures Major Development Boost for Bosome Freho District Through Rotary Club Foundation Partnership

In a major breakthrough for grassroots development, Hon. Boachie De-graft Maxwell, the Presiding Member of the Bosome Freho District Assembly and Deputy Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has successfully lobbied the internationally renowned Rotary Club Foundation to extend their developmental initiatives to the Bosome Freho District.
The USA-based NGO, Rotary Club Foundation, has been active in Ghana for years, with projects across the Kumasi Metropolis, the Adansi enclave, and other parts of the Ashanti Region. However, this marks the first time their impactful presence has been felt within Bosome Freho.
Recognizing the urgent infrastructural and health needs of the district, Hon. Boachie De-graft Maxwell undertook several rounds of engagement with the Rotary Club team. In his advocacy, he passionately highlighted the alarming water challenges and general underdevelopment in communities across the district. His compelling proposals and consistent lobbying efforts convinced the NGO to turn its attention toward Bosome Freho.
Immediate Impact: Boreholes in Underserved Communities
In less than a month following formal engagements, the Rotary Club Foundation has already drilled and provided three boreholes in critical communities: Mantukwa, Tutu, and Bayie. These areas previously depended on unsafe water sources like rivers and streams, posing severe health risks to residents, especially children.
In what was nearly a fourth successful water intervention, the community of Kwame Sam in the Nsuta zone narrowly missed receiving a borehole due to recent rains affecting drilling plans. However, Hon. Boachie De-graft has assured the community that they remain a priority for the next phase.
Looking Ahead: More Communities to Benefit
According to sources close to the Presiding Member’s office, negotiations are underway for extending potable water to other communities including Oputuu, Tepaso, Ampaha, and several others. The plans form part of a broader vision to ensure every community in the district has access to clean and safe drinking water.
Historic Agreement: First Science & Research Center with ICT and Robotics Lab
In what is being hailed as a historic achievement for the district, Hon. Boachie De-graft has also secured an agreement for the construction of Bosome Freho’s first-ever Science and Research Center, complete with a modern ICT laboratory and Robotics unit. This ambitious initiative is expected to transform the educational landscape of the district, exposing students to cutting-edge technology and innovation.
In addition to the water and education projects, other development proposals under consideration with the Rotary Club Foundation include the construction of kindergarten (KG) blocks, modern toilet facilities, and community health centers. These interventions are tailored to directly address the pressing needs of the district.
Commendations and Calls for Unity
Hon. Boachie De-graft Maxwell expressed profound appreciation to Mr. Godfred Kofi Acheampong, the Rotary Club Foundation’s project coordinator, for his swift and dedicated response to the district’s needs.
“I sincerely commend Mr. Godfred Kofi Acheampong for his open-door policy, timely responses, and commitment to this cause. The support has been overwhelming, and we are truly grateful,” he said.
He also lauded the collective efforts of his colleague Hon. Assembly Members across the district, urging them to continue supporting the vision for a more developed Bosome Freho.
“This is not a one-man job. Development requires unity, commitment, and selfless service. I am calling on all stakeholders, from Assembly Members to traditional leaders and the youth, to rally behind this mission,” he emphasized.
Next Steps: Commissioning and Sod-Cutting Ceremonies Imminent
The commissioning of the completed borehole projects is expected to take place soon, with sod-cutting ceremonies for the upcoming infrastructure projects to follow. The Presiding Member extended a warm and official welcome to the Rotary Club Foundation and assured them of the district’s full cooperation.
“We welcome the Rotary Club Foundation to Bosome Freho and urge them to do more. Our people are ready, and the time for transformation is now.”
With this groundbreaking partnership, Bosome Freho District is poised for a new era of development, hope, and opportunity.
