Hon. Grace Asamoah Agyemang Joins Security Services and Chiefs in Major Clean-Up at Kromoase

In a remarkable show of unity and commitment to sanitation, Hon. Grace Asamoah Agyemang, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Atwima Kwanwoma, led a massive clean-up exercise in the Kromoase Electoral Area of the Ashanti Region over the weekend.

The exercise, which targeted the principal street and surrounding areas of the town, was organized by the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly and supported by key stakeholders including the District Coordinating Director, Madam Eunice Korankye, Presiding Member Hon. Anthony Kwame Nsiah, the Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Police Service, assembly members, traditional authorities, and residents of Kromoase.

The joint exercise began early in the morning, with participants armed with cleaning tools such as brooms, shovels, and rakes. They cleared heaps of refuse, desilted gutters, removed weeds, and swept dusty streets. Officers from the Ghana National Fire Service also contributed by spraying water on the principal street to reduce dust and assist in washing the pavement and drains.

Hon. Grace Asamoah Agyemang, in her address, described the clean-up as a necessary and urgent measure to rid the community of filth and prevent sanitation-related diseases. She called on all residents to take active responsibility for their environment and to avoid practices that lead to environmental degradation.

“This is not just an event—it is a call to action. As a district, we are determined to instill discipline when it comes to sanitation,” she said. “Clean surroundings are essential for good health, business growth, and community pride. I commend everyone who came out today, and I urge all residents of Kromoase to help sustain this effort.”

District Coordinating Director Madam Eunice Korankye praised the collaboration between the Assembly and the security agencies, adding that such partnerships were crucial to ensuring successful community-centered programs. She urged residents to avoid indiscriminate dumping of refuse and to adhere to sanitation bylaws put in place by the Assembly.

Presiding Member Hon. Anthony Kwame Nsiah also addressed the gathering, stating that the Assembly would soon begin a series of inspections in communities to ensure environmental standards are maintained. He warned that individuals and businesses who fail to comply with sanitation regulations would face penalties.

The Assembly Member for the Kromoase Electoral Area expressed gratitude to the DCE and the Assembly for bringing the initiative to the area. He assured his constituents that he would work with local leaders to keep the community clean and help enforce sanitation rules.

Traditional leaders from Kromoase who participated in the exercise welcomed the involvement of the district leadership and pledged their support in educating the youth and encouraging households to uphold cleanliness as a cultural value.

Residents of Kromoase were visibly pleased with the transformation of their streets and surroundings by the end of the exercise. Many expressed hope that the Assembly would organize similar activities regularly and provide waste bins to make garbage disposal easier.

The clean-up forms part of the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly’s broader vision to promote environmental cleanliness, improve public health, and foster active citizen participation in development efforts.
