Accept postings to deprived areas- santanhene of Asante Asokore Traditional council urged health professionals in Ghana

Nana Okofo Frimpong Anokye santanhene of Asante Asokore Traditional council in the sekyere East district of the Ashanti Region has urged health professionals in Ghana to accept postings to rural and deprived areas where their services are most needed.

He said the refusal of some healthcare professionals to accept postings to some parts of the country was not helpful to efforts at making quality healthcare services accessible to all Ghanaians.

Nana Okofo Frimpong Anokye said posting health professionals to rural communities is not pushment but rather propel health worker to gain experienced.

He asked nurses and midwives to emulate their forebearers who accepted work in any part of the country even when the national infrastructure was not the best and without the incentive packages being offered presently by the government.

“Nurses refusing postings is particularly distressing. I want to use this platform to encourage all health practitioners to follow the worthy example of your great forebearers who readily accepted postings in their early years when the national infrastructure was even more harrowing than it is.

“Therefore, I am appealing to you as passionately as I can to accept postings to all regions and district hospitals where your services are most needed,” he said.

He made the call when sekyere East health directorate held their end of year review performance.

Nana Okofo Frimpong Anokye was impressed of the remarkable performances of Sekyere East Health directorate in their year 2023.

On his part, the Sekyere East District Health Director, Dr Justice Ofori Amoah

On his side the Sekyere East District Health Director Dr Justice Ofori Amoah used the opportunity to appeal to the religious Bodies (Leaders) especially christians leaders to educate their followers to accept blood taken and medication from Health facilities and medical practicians when it comes to need in crucial moment.

He called on Stakeholders, Cooperate Organization, Private Individuals to join hands fight against NTDs Disease Sekyere East district.

Dr Justice Ofori Amoah said the Disease, NTDs is here with us, that is Leprosy, Yaw, Scabies, Lymphatic, Filariasis, Dog bite, these mostly affecting school going children, so they should report any form disease to Health facilitate
Ha said the disease are under reported due to several other reason are:
Shyness, Stigmatiz, Economic challenges, Religious believe.

Finally Dr Ofori listed the achievement on NTDs cases by the health Directorate.

1. Identified about 2047 cases of scabies.

2. Put 5 (five) Leprosy cases on treatment

3. Identified 22 (twenty two) different forms of Lymphatic Filariasis

4. 55 cases of Yaws on treatment

5. Trained all community based surveillance volunteer.
