Yawmosi and Amanpensa Residents Drink Muddy Water with Animals

Muddy water, with a major part filled with pond scum and brownish in color is the dreary of a water body which serves over 250 residents of Yawmosi and Amanpensa a predominantly farming community about 4 km from kyekyerewere in the Afigya Kwabre north district of the Ashanti region.

The river which servers the residents over decades ago, is shared by both humans and animals, particularly cows.

The bushy road leading to the water body and the footprints of cows which left the river bank not long after my arrival tells of the woes of users of this water. Residents of these communities says this has been their only source of water for decades now and are appealing to the District Assembly and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area to come their aid.

” The water dries up in the dry season leaving us with no option than to go to Kyekyerewere to buy water to drink..

Some people have been admitted in the hospital because of the muddy water

They also gain pleaded with the government that they should reduce fertilizers they use to farm especially the one they use to do rice farming was 100Gh in 2020 but this year it has been increased to 450Gh and it has been a challenge for them to buy.

We are all Ghanaians and why must we suffer whiles others enjoy in this country. They quizzed?
