We’re deeply disappointed in Ghana Police and YEA – Coalition of Community Police

The Coalition of the Community Police Assistants has expressed frustration over the manner the Ghana Police Service and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) have rejected them despite the experiences gained in the security service.

According to the coalition, they are deeply disappointed in the police administration and officials of the YEA for overlooking them in successive governments, having gone through training regimes.

This follows after the community police assistants were exempted during the police recruitment exercise after some two years of working on a contract basis.

In a statement co-signed by the President and Secretary cum National Advisor for the Coalition of the Community Police Assistants, Seth Sakyi Boateng and Emmanuel Opoku respectively quizzed why they are being exempted after acquiring the essential skills in the security apparatus.

“Why is the Ghana Police Service not recommending the hard-working Community Police
Assistants (CPA’s) who Excel in their line of duties since 2016-2022 batches?

“Do the Police want to tell the public that, none of the CPAs do not qualify for police
recruitment requirements? Is the CPAs not helping the Ghana Police Service personnel in their line of duty?

“Why is the National Human Resource Department of the Ghana Police Service not considering the Master list of Community Police Assistants who wrote the Aptitude test of 2021/2022,” they questioned the police administration.

The CPAs thus wondered why the YEA is refusing to sign a proper and legal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ghana Police Service to consider it the hard-working members who excel in their line of duties to join their mother institution.

“We disregard the statement made by Mr Awal Mohammed National PRO of Youth Employment Agency on 14th September 2022 with one of the media saying CPA’s don’t have accurate (WASSCE) Certificates to enable them to qualify for police recruitment,” part of the statement added.

Considering the competence and behavioural characteristics of all Community Police Assistants, they are pleading with the Police Administration to recommend those who exceled when the police recruitment exercise commenced.

According to them, doing so will motivate future generations who want to join the Community Police Assistants.
