Mr. Albert Opoku, the Principal of the College at the event stated that, the
College admit about 1002 freshers this year.
According to him, this year’s admission was a very competitive as the school received a total of 3100 qualified applicants however as a result of their limited infrastructure they could only admit 1002 applicants, and out of the number 535 are registered general nursing 218 are registered midwifery and 249 are registered nurses assistance Clinical.
He noted that the institution formally Matriculate 1002 freshers for all the three programmes mentioned above.
He also took the opportunity to extent his wormest felicitations to the freshers for been among the few fortunate to gain admission into their prestige college of Nursing and Midwifery with their vigorous and competitive admissions selection process
According to him,the college is one of the nursing and Midwifery training college that have been affiliated to Kwame Nkrumah University of sciences and technology (KNUST) by the Ministry of Health, and for that matter, KNUST is therefore mandated to give students academic certificate to their two diploma programmes and has been holding graduation ceremony yearly for their graduands.
He however said, for their certificate programme there is no such ceremony for the graduands, which he said is against the background that the college board and the management have decided to include graduation ceremony in this year’s Matriculation especially for their Health Assistance Clinical graduands to be held.
He reminded the students that, by taking the oath they are committing themselves to be in good behavior, disciplined and worthy ambassadors of Tepa Nursing and midwifery Training.
He said every student who is admitted into the college is required to take the Matriculation oath confident that by taking this oath they will demonstrate their full commitment to conduct themselves according to the rules regulations and policies governing the college.
The college requires the support of both the students and the staff to be successful in its stride to become the center of excellence in nursing and Midwifery education in Ghana and beyond.
He take the opportunity to advise them to take their studies seriously in order to become successful nurses and midwives and good citizens of the country
He disclosed that, the College runs three main academic and professional programmes these include three year diploma in registered general nursing three diploma in registered midwifery and the 2 year certificate in nurse assistant clinical
Prof. Otchere Oheneba Addai Mensah Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), at the event commended Nana Atwerewaah Ampem II, Tepa Manhene for his commitment to Development,.
He noted that his legacies in terms of development worth emulation to other Chiefs and opinion leaders in the country
He also entreated Health workers especially nurses and midwives to treats their clients and prioritize them payment of their wards school fees , because through them that they feed their families.
He entreated them to work in lined with the ethics, rules and regulations of the profession..
Dr.Nana Atwerewaah Ampem Tepa Manhene,the Chairman of the Board of governors after the event together with the traditional council inspected ongoing infrastructural projects in the college which includes three storey building with four big Classrooms to enhance l access to infrastructural facilities in the school.
