Manso Adubia SHS Students Call for Infrastructure Support During SRC Week Celebration

Students and staff of Manso Adubia Senior High School (SHS) in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region have made a passionate appeal to the government and other educational stakeholders to urgently intervene and address the school’s pressing infrastructure challenges.

The appeal was made during the celebration of the school’s Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Week, an annual event traditionally marked by activities aimed at fostering unity, fun, and reflection. However, this year’s celebration took on a more serious tone as it became a platform for spotlighting the institution’s developmental needs.

Among the major concerns raised was the absence of dormitory facilities for both male and female students. This, according to the students, has led to overcrowding and poses a significant barrier to access for those who travel from remote areas. The lack of a proper dining hall and assembly hall was also highlighted, with students insisting that these key facilities would greatly enhance their academic experience and general well-being.

Mr. Opoku Mensah, the SRC Patron, reiterated the gravity of the situation in an interview.

“Our students are doing their best under very difficult conditions. The lack of dormitories is limiting our enrollment, especially for students who would otherwise board. The road network to the school is also poor, making access a serious challenge,” he stated.

Mr. Mensah further revealed that the school, together with its SRC, plans to initiate development projects after the SRC Week celebration. However, he acknowledged that these plans would be difficult to implement without strong external support.

“The government, philanthropists, and NGOs must come to our aid,” he appealed. “We want to see Manso Adubia SHS grow into a model institution, but we need the infrastructure to support that vision.”

The SRC Week ended on a hopeful note, with students and staff optimistic that the attention drawn to their plight will inspire timely interventions. The school community remains committed to working together to improve the learning environment and ensure that no student is left behind due to infrastructural limitations.
