In a significant move aimed at improving educational infrastructure in the Ejusu Municipality, the Chief of Donyina, Nana Osei Dankwa Brafor II, has donated 180 dual desks to schools in Donyina. The donation, made through the Municipal Education Directorate, is set to improve the learning environment for both students and teachers across the community. The desks will be distributed to schools in need, addressing the ongoing shortage of essential classroom furniture.
The donation includes 50 desks each for RC Primary, Presby Primary, and M/A Primary Schools, as well as 30 desks for Presby Junior High School (JHS). These schools have long struggled with a lack of adequate furniture, which has hindered effective teaching and learning. Nana Dankwa’s timely intervention is seen as a positive step toward creating a better educational environment for the students of Donyina.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Nana Dankwa emphasized the importance of education as a fundamental pillar of community development. “Education is a cornerstone of our community’s progress, and we cannot afford to neglect it. My commitment to supporting education remains unwavering, and I will continue to ensure that our schools have the resources they need to thrive,” he said.
The initiative follows a petition from the heads of the local schools, who identified a severe lack of furniture as a major barrier to effective teaching. After personally inspecting the schools, Nana Dankwa was moved by the conditions and decided to take immediate action by donating the desks. The donation is part of his broader commitment to supporting educational initiatives in Donyina and ensuring that schools have the necessary resources to create an effective learning environment.
Mr. Kwabena Owusu, the Municipal Education Director for Ejusu, expressed his deep appreciation for the donation. He acknowledged that the shortage of desks in the municipality had been an ongoing challenge, and the newly donated desks would significantly improve the classroom conditions. “These desks will make a big difference in our schools, especially in terms of improving classroom conditions for both teachers and students,” Mr. Owusu stated. He also urged all stakeholders to maintain the desks properly and ensure that they remain in good condition for years to come.
Mr. Owusu further emphasized the importance of fostering a sense of responsibility among students and teachers when it comes to handling public property. He encouraged the school community to treat the desks as valuable resources that will help enhance the educational experience for future generations.
The headmaster of Presby Primary School, Mr. Raymond Ofori, also expressed gratitude on behalf of his school. “On behalf of the entire school, I want to thank Nana Dankwa for this timely donation. These desks will greatly enhance our students’ learning experience,” he said. He also urged other institutions, both public and private, to consider supporting schools in the community to address the educational needs of the students.
Nana Dankwa’s donation of 180 desks is a crucial contribution to improving the quality of education in the Ejusu Municipality. By addressing the shortage of furniture, the Chief has helped create a more conducive learning environment, giving students the tools they need to succeed academically. His ongoing support underscores the critical role of community involvement in the development of education and the future of Ghana’s youth.
This generous act is a reminder of the vital role that community leaders play in the advancement of education, especially in rural areas. Nana Dankwa’s continued efforts to support the schools in Donyina reflect his unwavering commitment to ensuring that every child in his community has access to the resources needed for a successful education.
