MTN Ghana Rolls Out mCare Initiative and Digital Empowerment Projects Under 2025 Y’ello Care Campaign

MTN Ghana has officially launched the 2025 edition of its flagship employee volunteerism campaign, 21 Days of Y’ello Care, emphasizing digital inclusion and healthcare accessibility as core focus areas. One of the key highlights of this year’s campaign is the rollout of the MTN mCare Initiative, a digital health platform designed to deliver accessible and affordable healthcare solutions to underserved communities.
At the launch ceremony, Madam Charity Akosua Darko, Corporate Affairs Manager of MTN Ghana’s Northern Business District, revealed that the mCare initiative has been prioritized as a major activity under the 2025 Y’ello Care program. She explained that the initiative aligns perfectly with MTN’s ongoing commitment to bridging healthcare gaps in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
The mCare platform is a mobile-based medical insurance service that enables users to access healthcare conveniently through their smartphones. Upon registration, MTN Ghana will cover the medical bills of beneficiaries for the first two to three months, making quality healthcare more affordable and accessible to people living in remote locations where medical facilities are scarce or costly.
Beneficiaries in the Bono, Bono East, Ahafo, Savannah, North East, Upper West, and Upper East regions are set to benefit from the mCare program. The platform offers 24/7 accessibility, ensuring continuous medical support regardless of location.
The theme for this year’s campaign is “Connecting at the Roots,” which reflects MTN’s focus on grassroots empowerment through digital innovation. Running from June 1st to June 21st, 2025, the campaign features a wide range of IT-driven activities designed to tackle digital exclusion, empower youth, and build capacity in various communities.
In the Ashanti Region, MTN will organize mobile phone repair training alongside ICT education using mobile vans. As part of its commitment to supporting education, MTN will also provide school uniforms to needy pupils. A specially equipped ICT van will visit selected schools to offer students foundational digital skills.
In the Bono Region, residents will benefit from mobile ICT training coupled with mCare registration services. Similarly, in the Bono East and Ahafo Regions, MTN will facilitate mCare registration and deliver social media training to artisans, equipping them with skills to market their crafts online and grow their businesses.
A special project called Smart Farming will be introduced in the Northern Region. This initiative aims to cultivate a 5,000-acre farm, with women farmers already selected to lead the effort. MTN staff will actively support these farmers by combining agricultural practices with digital solutions, helping improve productivity and livelihoods.
The Savannah, North East, and Upper West Regions will see programs focused on mCare registration as well as social media and content creation training for artisans to enhance their digital presence. Meanwhile, the Upper East Region will benefit from mobile phone repair training and digital content creation workshops designed to improve the skills of youth and artisans.
Speaking to the media, Nii Adotey Mingle, Northern Sector General Manager of MTN Ghana, highlighted that the 2025 Y’ello Care campaign is fully digital. He explained that all activities under the program are driven by digital empowerment, positioning communities for future opportunities while addressing immediate developmental needs.
He further underscored that the campaign aims to reach a significant number of schools and individuals across all beneficiary regions, enhancing healthcare access and digital literacy at the grassroots level.
The 2025 Y’ello Care campaign underscores MTN Ghana’s dedication to inclusive development by leveraging digital technology and employee volunteerism to uplift lives and transform communities across the country.
