Mr Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, Director of Legal Affairs for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Petroleum Authority (NPA)has stated that the Rt Hon Speaker of Parliament Mr Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, applied his discretionary responsibility by suspending four Members of Parliament with regard to the chaos that occured at the Vetting Committee last Friday.
According to him, a Member of Parliament supposed to live above reproach as honourable member of the house, and must appreciate that they are there for the citizens that voted them to the house and the electorates are also there for the MPs, and that must conduct themselves in such a way that their reputations would not be abuse.
Speaking with the media, in response to the minority challenging the speaker of abusing his powers, he alleged that Mr Alexander Afenyo Markin is using the vetting to score political point, and is of the view that some of the ministers designate are targeted for leading the face of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 to whitewash the former President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo which to him defeat the purpose of Parliament.
He noted that the president has the responsibility of fourteen days for the appointment of his Ministers and that the minority wanted to benefit from the failure of the government, because they have nothing to loose should the president not been able to finish with the appointment within the stated days.
He stressed that the majority have to deal with the minority with the task ahead of the government, and accused Mr Annor Dompreh the Minority Chief whip for failure to act as honourable by compelling a colleague to disconnect the cables and putting chairs on the tables at the vetting hall.
