Sekyere Kumawu DCE Hon. Kwasi Amankwa Begins Duty with Staff Engagement and Visit to Traditional Authorities

Hon. Kwasi Amankwa, the newly confirmed District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere Kumawu, has officially commenced his duties with a strong show of leadership, engagement, and cultural respect. Just days after his confirmation, Hon. Amankwa met with key stakeholders and paid a courtesy call on the traditional leadership of Kumawu, signaling a united front for development in the district.

In a meeting held with staff of the District Assembly, assembly members, and executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Amankwa formally introduced himself and shared his vision for the district. He emphasized the urgent need for collaboration among all stakeholders to achieve meaningful development and maintain the integrity of the NDC government under President John Dramani Mahama.

“The development of Sekyere Kumawu will require all hands on deck,” he stated. “We must set aside our differences and work together as one team, driven by our shared goal to transform lives and build a better future for our people.”

Hon. Amankwa reiterated his commitment to transparency, accountability, and servant leadership, assuring his staff and assembly members of a consultative and inclusive leadership style that seeks input and fosters teamwork.

Following the meeting, the DCE visited the traditional leaders of Kumawu, led by the revered Kumawumanhene, Barima Sarfo Tweneboah Koduah. The visit, filled with cultural significance, was to express gratitude for the support and prayers of the chiefs, and to reaffirm his dedication to serving the district with humility and diligence.

Addressing the traditional council, Hon. Amankwa pledged to work hand in hand with the chiefs to bring development to Kumawu and its surrounding communities. He also assured them of his intention to promote peace and unity within the NDC at the local level.

In response, the Kumawumanhene commended the DCE for the gesture of respect and encouraged him to stay true to values that promote good governance. He advised Hon. Amankwa to lead with love, unity, consistency, transparency, and competence.

Barima Sarfo Tweneboah also stressed the need for the DCE to collaborate with the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sekyere Kumawu, regardless of political affiliation, to ensure the overall progress of the district.

“Development knows no party colour,” the chief stated. “You must work with your MP and all stakeholders if you want to succeed. Be a listening leader and remain close to the people you serve.”

He further urged the DCE to be attentive to the needs and aspirations of all communities, and to lead with humility and patience, especially in addressing local concerns.

With these early steps—marked by consultation, respect, and strategic engagement—Hon. Kwasi Amankwa has made a promising start to his tenure. The people of Sekyere Kumawu remain optimistic that his leadership will usher in a new era of unity, progress, and inclusive development for the district.
