A sombre mood engulfed St Paul Emulakha Secondary School in Navakholo subcounty, Kakamega after a teacher collapsed and died under mysterious circumstances.
Mr Mark Chimaleni, a CRE/Kiswahili teacher is said to have collapsed in school shortly after attending afternoon lesson.
Students who witnessed the incident alerted other teachers who quickly rushed to scene where the teacher was lying on the ground. He was rushed to the nearby hospital but unfortunately, he was confirmed dead on arrival.
The body was transferred to the the mortuary for a postmortem and other investigations. The cause of the teacher’s death is yet to be known.
Area OCPD confirmed the incident and said police have launched investigations into the cause of the teacher’s death. For now, police are treating the matter as sudden death as they wait for a postmortem examination to be carried on the body to determine the actual cause of the death.
The incident left his colleagues, students and the entire school fraternity in shock and sadness. We extend our sincere condolence to the family, friends and the fraternity of St Paul Emulakha Secondary School.
