Rotary Club Organizes Family Health Day for Nhyiaeso Residents

Rotary Club Kumasi and Obuasi have organized a free, three-day health screening exercise, dubbed Family Health Day, aimed at promoting the well-being of residents of Nhyiaeso and surrounding communities. The event took place at the Sokoban Primary School Park, drawing in large numbers of participants.*

The project director of Rotary Club Kumasi, Mr. Mark Asante, spoke to the media about the initiative, highlighting the club’s goal of providing crucial health services to over 2,000 residents. The health screening covered a wide range of services, including blood pressure testing, HIV screening, de-worming, tuberculosis screening, polio and measles vaccinations, vitamin A supplementation, and general counseling.

Mr. Asante emphasized that anyone identified with health concerns during the screening was referred to the nearest hospital for further examination and treatment. He noted the significance of the event, stating, *“Our club is deeply committed to serving our community, and organizing this free health screening aligns perfectly with our mission.”*

He also urged residents to prioritize their health by attending regular medical check-ups and incorporating physical exercise into their daily routines to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Male condoms were distributed to all participants as part of efforts to promote reproductive health, and everyone who attended the screening was provided with de-wormers before leaving the site.

The Family Health Day was supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Ghana Health Service, whose collaboration helped to make the event a success.

Several community members expressed their gratitude to Rotary Club Kumasi for offering the free health services, which they said had a positive impact on their well-being.

The Rotary Club continues to play a significant role in improving health outcomes for communities in Ghana through its commitment to service and outreach programs.
