MTN Ghana Foundation Champions Youth Empowerment with Digital Skills and Mentorship at 2025 National Summit

In a powerful display of its ongoing commitment to youth empowerment and digital transformation, the MTN Ghana Foundation played a key role in the grand finale of the 2025 National Youth Mentorship Summit held at the University of Ghana Business School, Legon.
The high-impact event brought together over 800 students and young professionals from across the country for a transformative experience centered on mentorship, digital readiness, and leadership development. The summit, which commenced on June 21, 2025, was organized by the LEC Group and has run a series of mentorship and empowerment engagements leading up to the finale.

Speaking at the event, Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, Senior Manager for Corporate Communications at MTN Ghana, emphasized MTN’s unwavering dedication to equipping African youth with the tools and mindset needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
“MTN is proud to support this national mentorship programme focused on young people in tertiary institutions. As a brand committed to driving Africa’s progress, we recognise that youth development and entrepreneurship are essential for sustainable economic empowerment,” she stated.

According to her, the youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow but a driving force in the present. She stressed that it is imperative for corporate institutions and national stakeholders to collectively support young people by equipping them with digital tools, soft skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
In her presentation themed “STRETCH,” Georgina urged participants to step beyond their comfort zones in pursuit of academic and professional excellence. She encouraged them to embrace growth through challenges, noting that true development occurs when individuals dare to stretch themselves beyond limitations.
A key highlight of MTN Ghana Foundation’s engagement at the summit was the introduction of the MTN Skills Academy, a flagship initiative offering free access to world-class digital training. The academy provides courses in data analytics, cybersecurity, career development, and other essential digital skills — all tailored to make young people more competitive in the digital economy.

Ebenezer Terkpeh, Education Portfolio Advisor at the MTN Ghana Foundation, explained that the Skills Academy is designed to impact over 10,000 young people across the country. “We have transitioned from being a telecoms company to a technology company. This transition requires us to invest in local talent. The MTN Skills Academy offers basic and advanced digital programs, with certificates from globally recognized institutions,” he said.
Mr. Terkpeh added that the academy aligns with MTN’s broader vision of building a skilled, future-ready workforce in Ghana and beyond, noting that partnerships with global platforms allow participants to receive certified training for free.

Albert Prempeh Kusi, founder of the LEC Group and convener of the National Mentorship Summit, commended MTN Ghana for being a consistent and impactful partner in national youth development.
“Through initiatives like the MTN Skills Academy and their unwavering support for mentorship and youth development programmes, MTN is demonstrating what it truly means to invest in Ghana’s future,” Mr. Kusi remarked.

As the 2025 National Youth Mentorship Summit came to a close, the message was clear — investing in youth through mentorship, technology, and digital literacy is critical to unlocking the nation’s socio-economic potential. MTN Ghana Foundation’s active participation and long-term initiatives remain a beacon of hope for thousands of young Ghanaians striving for excellence and opportunity in the digital age.
