Yaa Botwe is a stream that flows from nkurakan into Okornya, Asaman, Abrewankor and Ahienyom streams in the yilo Krobo Municipality of the eastern region.
However, some residents of Nkurakan have accused the caretakers at the public toilet post that they have been discharging the Toilets into the stream during midnight and mostly when ever it rains.
They lamented that they got know they have been discharging into the stream because their houses are a bit far from the market where the Toliet is situated but they are close to the stream so the moment they discharge it into it the scent of the toilet stuck in their rooms which they find it difficult to breathe.
Headresser behind the public Toilet have connected her pipe into the stream and when ever she washes hair, the soapy water flows through the pipe into the stream.
In all this, everyone knows that a river or stream doesn’t flow straight into the sea but rather flows through different streams before it get into the sea.
The report indicates that most of the women are into Gari and cassava business.
They used this same polluted water for washing the cassava they harvested from the farm.
The residents are calling on authorities to come to their Aid to resolve the problem.
