Prince of Peace Girls Senior High School(POPGIS) in South Suntreso, located in the Nhyiaeso Constituency of the Ashanti Region, held a grand induction service to officially welcome Mrs. Juliet Mary Antwi Kyeremeh as the new headmistress of the school. The ceremony, held in the school’s assembly hall, marks a significant milestone in the institution’s history as it is the third induction service since its founding.
The event was graced by a host of dignitaries, including officials from the Ghana Education Service (GES), local government representatives, traditional leaders, parents, alumni, and current students. Also in attendance were teaching staff and other stakeholders of the school, all of whom gathered to witness this important moment for Prince of Peace Girls SHS.
In her address, Mrs. Juliet Mary Antwi Kyeremeh expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the GES and the school’s Board of Governors for entrusting her with the leadership of the institution. She emphasized her dedication to improving academic performance and ensuring the holistic development of students. She shared her vision of transforming Prince of Peace Girls Senior High School into a hub of academic excellence, founded on the principles of discipline, diligence, and innovative teaching.
“I am honored to take up this role and ready to build on the successes of my predecessors. My vision is to make Prince of Peace Girls Senior High School a center of academic excellence where discipline, hard work, and innovative teaching methods will form the foundation for learning,” Mrs. Antwi Kyeremeh said.
She further outlined her plans to instill qualities such as humility, spirituality, intelligence, and moral integrity in the students, stressing the need for collaboration from all stakeholders to achieve these goals. Mrs. Antwi Kyeremeh called on parents, teachers, the regional education office, and the Ministry of Education to support her in shaping the future of the school. She encouraged teaching and non-teaching staff to work with passion and dedication to elevate the institution’s standing.
The Assistant Headmaster for Academics, Mr. Mohammed Danso, also took the opportunity to shed light on some of the challenges the school is currently facing. He noted that the school lacks essential facilities such as a science laboratory, a home economics laboratory, and a proper assembly hall. He also highlighted the shortage of desks and the limited number of computers available for students, with the school having only ten computers to serve its large student population.
Mr. Danso appealed to the government, alumni, and other stakeholders to come to the aid of the school. He urged all concerned parties to provide the necessary resources to help create a conducive learning environment for the students.
The induction service ended with a sense of optimism and commitment from all attendees to work towards the betterment of the school, ensuring that Prince of Peace Girls Senior High School continues to thrive as a beacon of education and moral discipline in the region.
