The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has made a significant breakthrough in the mysterious disappearance and subsequent murder of Assistant Inspector of Immigration, Stephen King Amoah, also known as Otumfour Nana.

In a joint press briefing held by the CID and the Cyber Security Authority, the Director-General of CID, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, disclosed that the Kwabenya District Police Command on July 24, 2025, received an official complaint regarding the disappearance of Mr. Amoah, prompting swift action and primary investigations into the case.
Following intelligence gathered, the police apprehended one Bright Aweh, who is believed to be a key suspect in the case. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to meeting Mr. Amoah and giving him an amount of GH₵500,000 on July 3, 2025. According to the suspect, the money was meant to settle a debt that the deceased owed.
COP Donkor revealed that the police, upon obtaining a search warrant, conducted a thorough search of the suspect’s residence. The exercise uncovered blood stains in the room, which were subsequently collected for forensic analysis to assist in the ongoing investigations.
Further probing led investigators to a bush near the suspect’s residence, where they discovered a locally manufactured pistol, commonly referred to as a fufu pistol, wrapped in polythene with visible blood stains on it. The weapon, believed to have been used in the commission of the crime, has been taken into police custody for further examination.
The suspect, Bright Aweh, has since been arraigned before the Adabraka District Court, where he was remanded into police custody to assist with further investigations. He is expected to reappear in court on August 8, 2025.
