In a generous act of philanthropy, businessman and philanthropist Mr. Kwaku Abonee, known as “Osama,” has donated a state-of-the-art incubator worth one million Ghana cedis to St. Martin’s Catholic Hospital in Agroyesum. The donation is aimed at improving neonatal care, addressing a critical need for equipment to support premature and critically ill newborns in the region.
The hospital’s management had reached out to Mr. Abonee, highlighting the urgent need for an incubator to properly care for vulnerable infants. Before this donation, the lack of such equipment had hindered the hospital’s ability to provide specialized care for newborns in need of immediate attention.
During the handover ceremony, Mr. Abonee reaffirmed his commitment to improving healthcare in his constituency. “This donation is just one of many steps I am taking to strengthen healthcare services in our community. I am dedicated to ensuring our hospitals have the resources they need to save lives,” he said.
Mr. Abonee also assured the hospital staff that his philanthropic efforts would continue. “I will keep supporting St. Martin’s Catholic Hospital and other healthcare facilities in our district. I encourage everyone here to ensure the incubator is used to its full potential in saving the lives of newborns,” he added.
The donation was gratefully received by Sister Mary Assumpta Taabazuing, Nurse Manager at St. Martin’s Catholic Hospital. “On behalf of the entire hospital, we express our deep gratitude to Mr. Kwaku Abonee for this timely and life-saving donation. This incubator will make a world of difference in our ability to care for newborns who are critically ill or premature,” she said.
The new incubator is expected to significantly improve the hospital’s capacity to handle neonatal emergencies, giving newborns in the district a better chance at survival and a healthy start to life. As healthcare infrastructure in rural areas like Amansie South continues to face challenges, Mr. Abonee’s donation is a beacon of hope for better healthcare delivery.
With this generous contribution, St. Martin’s Catholic Hospital is now better equipped to provide life-saving care for newborns, marking a positive change for healthcare in the district. Mr. Abonee’s ongoing commitment to healthcare development is a testament to the power of philanthropy in making lasting improvements in local communities.
