Okomfo Nana Baffour Gyau Cautions Youth Against Misusing Social Media

Okomfo Nana Baffour Gyau, the spiritual head of the Asuo Paamu Spiritual and Herbal Home in Sefwi Abofrem, has issued a strong appeal to the Ghanaian public, especially the youth, to be mindful of their actions on social media. He expressed deep concern over the increasing trend of individuals using these platforms to harm others’ reputations, often without understanding the full implications of their actions.

During a community gathering in Sefwi Abofrem, Okomfo Nana Baffour Gyau highlighted the potential dangers of using social media irresponsibly. He pointed out that the spread of unverified information and online attacks have severe consequences that impact not only those targeted but also society as a whole.

“Using social media to malign or spread false information about others is a troubling trend, and many young people may not realize the harm they are causing,” Baffour Gyau cautioned. “It’s essential to verify information and seek clarification before sharing anything that could affect someone’s character or reputation.”

Okomfo Baffour Gyau also urged the public to approach others’ religious beliefs with tolerance and understanding. He encouraged Ghanaians to respect diverse forms of worship and avoid passing judgment based on differences in religious practices. “Every individual has their way of worshipping and serving the Lord. We should embrace these differences rather than use them as reasons for misunderstanding or division,” he emphasized.

With Ghana’s 2024 general elections approaching, he called for a peaceful approach to online engagement, advising Ghanaians to be particularly careful not to post or share content that could fuel division or unrest. He urged everyone to use social media as a tool for unity, promoting constructive dialogue and harmony across communities.

Okomfo Nana Baffour Gyau’s message aligns with ongoing efforts to encourage responsible social media use across the country, emphasizing its power not only as a communication tool but as a means to foster respect, understanding, and peace among all Ghanaians.
