NSS persons posted to classrooms given orientation

The Minister OF Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has admonished 2022/23 National Service Personnel who have been deployed to the classroom to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedure during their one-year period of service.

The 4-week programme for 3,100 personnel who have been posted to private and public institutions across the country commenced on November 30.

Speaking at the launch programme, Dr Adutwum said “equipping National Service Personnel with this skill is going to make them more efficient in the classroom as they support our various agencies in helping us deliver an effective curriculum.”

For her part, the Chief of Staff Madam Akosua Frema Osei-Opare indicated that the training affords these personnel personnel professional skills to deliver quality teaching to these schools.

Prior to the postings, the Ghana Education Service (GES) organized another 4-week intensive orientation programme, where the registrar of the National Teaching Council (NTC), Dr. Christian Addai Poku emphasized the need for service personnel to adhere to standards during the period of their service.

He said “This training does not make participant qualified teachers by any standard”. He further stated that “if the personnel want to be qualified teachers after their service they have to enroll on the process”.
